The TRICONEX 3006 is the central processing unit of the Invensys Tricon Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) safety system — one of the most widely deployed Safety Instrumented System (SIS) platforms in the global process industry. Designed for continuous operation in mission-critical environments, the 3006 CPU executes the safety logic that governs emergency shutdown (ESD), fire & gas (F&G), and high-integrity process control applications.

Product Positioning: The 3006 CPU module is the computational core of the Tricon chassis. It operates in a 1oo3 (one-out-of-three) voting architecture, where three independent processors simultaneously execute the same logic and cross-check results — ensuring fault tolerance without spurious trips. The three internal processors (Leg A, Leg B, Leg C) each independently read all input signals from the I/O bus, execute the user safety program, and compare output results via a high-speed inter-processor communication bus. Only when all three legs agree (or a 2oo3 majority is reached) are output commands issued to field devices.
